Set it up in a few minutes

    In Webalert, go to Integrations → Add integration → Grafana. Name it, pick the escalation policy to page, and save. Copy the webhook URL and credentials; the credentials are shown once.

    In Grafana, go to Alerting → Contact points → Add contact point and choose Webhook.

    Paste the webhook URL. Under Optional Webhook settings, set Authorization Header – Scheme to Bearer and Credentials to the value from Webalert.

    Use the contact point in a notification policy for the alerts that should page, then click Test. The test shows up in the integration’s activity in Webalert.

What Webalert does with Grafana alerts

  • Opens an incident for each newly firing alert instance and pages the escalation policy.
  • Ignores repeat notifications for an alert that is still firing.
  • Resolves the incident when Grafana sends the alert as resolved.
  • Groups alerts into one storm incident when too many fire at once, so one outage is one page.

Who gets paged comes from your on-call rotation and escalation policy. Each person picks how they’re reached: SMS, phone call, email, push or Slack.

Which plans include the Grafana integration?

Does it page by phone?
Yes. Each person sets how they’re paged, for example SMS right away and a call after 2 minutes. Press 1 on the call or reply 1 to the SMS to acknowledge and stop the escalation.
What if nobody answers?
The escalation policy moves to the next level: the secondary, then the team lead, as many levels as you set. A page that can’t reach anyone escalates straight away.
