Is AWS down for everyone or just you?
This is the question that matters most. Our checker requests aws.amazon.com from our own servers, completely separate from your network — so the result reflects what the rest of the internet sees, not just your connection.
- If we say it's down: the outage is real and affects everyone. You'll just have to wait until AWS fixes the issue.
- If we say it's up, but you can't load it: the problem is local to you — usually a DNS cache, a VPN, a firewall, browser cache, or your ISP. Try a different network and an incognito window.
What a AWS outage looks like
aws.amazon.com being reachable does not mean your region is healthy. Most AWS incidents are regional (often us-east-1) and hit EC2, S3, or IAM while the marketing site stays up. Use this check for the public site; use AWS Health for the services your stack actually depends on.
Typical issues: Regional control-plane failures, S3 or IAM disruption, console login issues, and downstream SaaS outages that start as an AWS region event.
